Content Pillars: what are they? do I need them?

Have you heard of Content Pillars? Do you use them for your socials or do you have no idea what I'm talking about?
Content Pillars help you focus on your niche and create cohesive content. They consist of 3-5 topics that your brand will consistently discuss, zone in on, and build content around.

They are designed to give your content cohesion and FOCUS. You can't be a master of all, so narrow in on a couple of key areas that you know you can provide and create quality content around.
How to identify your Content Pillars:
-What are your business goals?
-What are you trying to achieve with your socials?
-What value do you offer?
-What keywords should you be using?
-Are there any gaps in your niche that you can fill?
Still not sure? Consider the 3 H's

Hero- inspirational content
Hub- your main content; what your followers expect you to post
Help - informative, teaching, showcasing.
And you can also think about Entertainment content, if this is not part of your Hub.
If you are still unsure, look at what your peers are doing, someone similar to you. What patterns do you notice? How can you do something similar in your own way?
